This message in a bottle made its way back to my family recently.

As I mentioned in a previous post, my Grampy was a mason, and worked on many of the buildings on the Acadia University campus. During recent renovations at Eaton House, this bottle was found in the wall with the following message: “Robert Myles, North Grand Pre, Feb. 12, 1975, date of birth Feb. 12, 1936”. It was promptly returned to my very surprised cousin.

He must have been celebrating his 39th birthday with a lil drink! My Grampy was so great and full of life; I’m sure he is watching us and laughing that his bottle made its way to us. I wonder how many more of these bottles are bricked up in buildings around the Valley!

O, and the penny has no significance; I was just using it to hold the paper down. 😉

  1. This is a great story! We tend to think of messages in bottles as things that float around the ocean, but sometimes, the ones that spend years in a single place have the best stories. Good for you guys!
